CGCup-logo About the Cup

The Cascade Golfer Cup is the Puget Sound region’s most exciting amateur golf tournament series. Not only does the series award thousands of dollars in prizes to local golfers each year, but all events are played in a fun two-person format at GREAT golf courses. Prizes include stay-and-play packages, twosomes and foursomes of golf, golf products, lesson packages, and more. Over the 14 years of the Cascade Golfer Cup, participants have won packages to the US Open, The Masters, the British Open, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, Maui, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Central Oregon, Mesquite, Coeur d’Alene, and more great golf destinations.

Started in 2009 to provide Puget Sound amateur golfers the chance to experience the thrill of tournament golf, the Cascade Golfer Cup has grown into the leading amateur tournament series in the Northwest, from two events in 2009 to a full series today. It is a great combination of fun and competition.

All tournaments are open to any golfer with an established handicap and feature up to 64 two-person teams competing in a variety of net and gross formats, allowing players of all ages and abilities to compete on a level playing field. Prizes are awarded to the top 10 net and top 10 gross teams at each event, plus additional hole prizes and giveaways at every event. The variety of formats has produced over 70 different net-scoring winners since 2010, with handicaps ranging from scratch to 28.

This year, the series kicks off for the first time at northwest favorite Chambers Bay on April 27th and finishes on September 7th at Oakbrook. In between, we have five great golf courses for you, all fantastic and very unique in their own way. This includes Salish Cliffs, The Home Course, and also White Horse. We hope to see you along the way!

Each event prizes out the top-10 net and top-10 gross teams. In the event of a tie, the team with the lowest gross team score on the No. 1 handicap hole will earn the higher place (if still tied, the tiebreaker will advance to the No. 2 handicap hole, No. 3, etc., until the tie is broken) to determine prizes for the top-10 net and top-10 gross. (Example: two teams shoot net 66 and tie for 10th net; one team will get 10th and a prize, while the other team will get 11th and not receive a prize.) This tiebreaker is also used to determine points for the top-25 net. If a team finishes “in the money” in both net and gross, they will be able to choose either the net or gross prize (but not both, although you do earn points in each division). Because of this, it is possible that all 20 prizes may not be awarded at each event. Prizes not awarded are then recycled into future CG Cup events.

In addition to these prizes, each event offers four Closest-to-the-Pin contests on the par threes, plus a Long Drive (Men & Women) and a Straightest Drive Contest. Players can enter these hole contests for $20 per player.

Prizes will be added throughout the season and are subject to change.

Tees

Each event is open to men and women. In most events, men will play from the blues (or equivalent), and women will play from the forward tees.

Rosters

Any two players may participate together in any tournament and be eligible for that event’s prize pool. Regarding earning points towards the season standings, each team may only have up to three players eligible to earn points. Players are also only eligible to earn points on one team.

Handicaps

All Cascade Golfer Cup events are scored in both net and gross formats. All players must have a registered handicap to compete in the net. Some formats will use a player’s full handicap, while other will use a percentage of their handicap.  The Cascade Golfer Cup uses your lowest handicap index in the last 12 months, as determined through the Wednesday prior to each event.  For men, the maximum allowed handicap will be 36; for women, the maximum will be 40.  We are committed to ensuring that all golfers are playing to an accurate handicap.  The tournament monitors “career” rounds and strives to protect the field from players having “career” rounds multiple times in CG Cup events. As such, the tournament reserves the right to adjust any player’s handicap prior to play if they feel said player’s handicap is not accurate or reflective of their level of play in CG Cup events.  If the tournament feels any player has manipulated their handicap index in any form or otherwise has been dishonest about their handicap, they will be instantly disqualified, and no refund will be offered.

Points and Scoring

Each event will have a separate prize pool (top-10 Net teams, top-10 Gross teams). In addition to those prizes, competing teams will also earn points toward the season-ending Cascade Golfer Cup points championship. Heading into the final event, each team’s top-five points results from the first seven events will be totaled to determine the overall points standings. Points earned in the final event will then be added to that total to determine the 2022 Cascade Golfer Cup Championship (Net and Gross) and the winner of the CG Cup Grand Prize.

Each event will also offer seven-hole contests that players can buy into on-site. (Typically Closest-to-the-Pin on four par-3s, Straightest Drive, and Men’s and Women’s Long Drive).

Points are earned in each event just for turning in your scorecard. Points are awarded as follows:

  • Events 1 & 2: 200 Points
  • Events 3 & 4: 300 Points
  • Event 5: 400 Points

Additional points can be earned by finishing in the top 25 of the event. These points are awarded as follows:

  • 1: 1000
  • 2: 900
  • 3: 850
  • 4: 800
  • 5: 750
  • 6: 700
