The Puget Sound region’s most exciting amateur golf tournament series, the Cascade Golfer Cup awards thousands of dollars in prizes to local golfers each year, including rounds of golf at some of the West Coast’s premier venues, travel packages to Bandon Dunes, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Reno-Tahoe, Central Oregon and other world-class golf destinations, golf merchandise and more.
Started in 2009 to provide Puget Sound amateur golfers with the chance to experience the thrill of tournament golf, the Cascade Golfer Cup has grown into the leading amateur tournament series in the Northwest, from two events in 2009, to six in 2010, to seven since 2011, featuring over 400 players from across the region. In addition to golf vacations and rounds of golf, past events have sent winners to The Masters, the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and the British Open.
All tournaments are open to any golfer with an established handicap and feature up to 64, two-person teams competing in a variety of net and gross formats, including Best Ball, Stroke Play and Modified Stableford, allowing players of all ages and abilities to compete on a level playing field. Prizes are awarded to the top-15 net and top-10 gross teams at each event, plus additional hole prizes and giveaways at every event. The variety of formats has produced 63 different net-scoring winners in 80 total events, with handicaps ranging from scratch to 28.
Individual event prizes include stay-and-play packages to Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Mesquite, Central Oregon and Bandon Dunes, plus golf clubs and accessories, and rounds of golf at top local courses, all handed out at an exclusive post-tournament awards party hosted by Michelob ULTRA (NOTE: In 2020, awards parties will be held at only those events taking place after social-distancing restrictions are lifted). Also included in the cost of entry are free drinks from a keg placed on the cours.
This year, the series kicks off June 27 at Druids Glen, before moving on to some of the top courses in the Northwest — in fact, every single course in this year’s lineup was ranked among the top-20 in the state by Cascade Golfer readers in 2019, including three of the top-10!
The 2020 Cascade Golfer Cup will be comprised of four golf tournaments at four of the best venues the Northwest has to offer. Each event will be open to the first 64 teams (two-person), competing in both Net and Gross competitions in a variety of formats. All prices are per team. Start times for the first two events (Druids Glen and Washington National) indicate the first tee time of the event; for subsequent events, shotgun starts will be used if social distancing measures are lifted.

Over $40,000 in prizes will be awarded, including over 100 team prizes and 28 individual prizes!
Event grand prizes are listed on each individual event’s page.
Other prizes include:
Rounds of golf
Clubs, shoes, bags, etc
Each event prizes out the top-15 net and top-10 gross teams. In the event of a tie, the team with the lowest gross team score on the No. 1 handicap hole will earn the higher place (if still tied, tiebreaker will advance to No. 2 handicap hole, No. 3, etc., until tie is broken) to determine prizes for the top-15 net and top-10 gross. (Example: two teams shoot net 65 and tie for 15th net, one team will get 15th and a prize, while the other team will get 16th and not receive a prize.) This tiebreaker is also used to determine points for the top-25 net. If a team finishes “in the money” in both net and gross, they will be able to choose either the net or gross prize (but not both). Because of this, it is possible that all 25 prizes may not be awarded at each event. Prizes not awarded are then recycled into future CG Cup events.
In addition to these prizes, each event offers four Closest-to-the-Pin contests on the par threes, plus a Long Drive (Men & Women) and a Straightest Drive Contest. Players can enter these hole contests for $20 per player.
Prizes will be added throughout the season and are subject to change.
Each team may have up to eight players compete throughout the four events. However, only three players are eligible to earn points on one team. Also, players may only earn points on one team.
All Cascade Golfer Cup events are scored in both net and gross formats. All players must have a registered handicap to compete in the net. Some formats will use a player’s full handicap, while other will use a percentage of their handicap. The Cascade Golfer Cup uses your lowest handicap index in the last 12 months, as determined through the Wednesday prior to each event. For men, the maximum allowed handicap will be 36; for women, the maximum will be 40. We are committed to ensuring that all golfers are playing to an accurate handicap. The tournament monitors “career” rounds and strives to protect the field from players having “career” rounds multiple times in CG Cup events. As such, the tournament reserves the right to adjust any player’s handicap prior to play if they feel said player’s handicap is not accurate, or reflective of their level of play in CG Cup events. If the tournament feels any player has manipulated their handicap index in any form, or otherwise has been dishonest about their handicap, they will be instantly disqualified and no refund will be offered.
Points and Scoring
Due to social distancing restrictions that prevent large gatherings, and the required changes to this year’s schedule, unlike past seasons, there will be no points awarded towards season-long prizes in the 2020 Cascade Golfer Cup. Each event will instead simply be its own individual event, each featuring fantastic individual prizes. We look forward to bringing the full series back in its regular format in 2021.
