“Losing to a robot is a bit like losing to Martin Kaymer.”
That’s the line that stuck with me for hours after watching this video, and in the five times I’ve seen it since, it’s still the one that cracks me up the most. Rory’s robot challenger has some other good one-liners, too — and a pretty sweet swing, I might add — while Rory gets in a few of his own.
While it’s the humor that draws in the most viewers — including an amusing reference to Rory’s new Nike stablemate, Tiger Woods, that actually draws an expletive from the normally-unflappable Northern Irishman — it’s the golf that’s actually the most amazing part of the whole video. Think it’s easy? Set a bucket on the ground in your backyard, and see how long it takes you to hit it from 15 yards away. Now imagine that bucket a couple hundred yards away, 40 feet in the air. Yeah, these guys are good.
