Cascade Golfer’s U.S. Open Coverage

2015 U.S. OpenYou may have heard that this is a pretty big week on the local golf scene. Since the moment that we first heard that the 2015 U.S. Open had been awarded to Chambers Bay — more than seven years ago — we’ve been laser-focused on this week, this moment, this chance for our region to shine.
This is our day — YOUR day — and we are going to help you savor every moment.
Our coverage of the U.S. Open will include three reporters on site every day, delivering you the news and views you can use. We’re not going to be writing daily recaps of the action — there will be plenty of other sources for that kind of coverage. Instead, we’re going to go behind the “who, what, where, when and why” that hundreds of media outlets worldwide will be focused on, and instead deliver the kinds of stories of unique interest to Western Washington golfers — What is the fan experience like? How does the course look on TV? What are the players, announcers and others around the world saying now that they’ve had the chance to see and play Chambers Bay? How is the live viewing experience different from what we see on TV?
We’ll have three reporters on site every day of the championship to deliver the news directly to your inbox, via a daily newsletter from Cascade Golfer, as well as online at CascadeGolfer.com. In addition to our daily features, we’ll also be posting “What We Saw” — 5-10 observations from each day on the course, things that you had to be there to see — along with “Dick’s Picks,” a look ahead each day to five players that have caught the attention of publisher Dick Stephens, and are worth keeping an eye on the following day. We’ll also, every day, publish one story or photo from a Cascade Golfer reader — send your U.S. Open stories or photos to editor@cascadegolfer.com, or post them to our Facebook page, to be considered. At the end of the week, we plan to compile all the best stories and photos we received and publish them in the August issue of Cascade Golfer, giving you the chance to relive your incredible experience one last time this summer.
And of course, we’ll updating our Facebook (Cascade Golfer) and Twitter (@CascadeGolfer) pages constantly throughout the week, and giving away golf clubs, rounds of golf and more to those who like, share and follow our updates.
The biggest week in Northwest golf history starts now. So come along with us and enjoy the ride.
