June 30th in Post Game.
Reveling in a career-best round is almost as much fun as the round itself — even if the drinks are on you. Likewise, when you have a bad case of the shanks, you need some place to drown your sorrows … fast. These golf-centric establishments have you covered:
Count ‘Em Up, Drink ‘Em Down
Greenside Grill at Echo Falls Golf Club
20414 121st Ave SE, Snohomish • echofallsgolf.com
Huge portions and great views are found at the Greenside Grill. Just off the patio is the par 3 18th with its treacherous island green — watch the disappointment or relief of players getting wet or staying dry. On the menu, you’ll find something for anyone’s taste in American fare at reasonable prices. A heaping “lumberjack” breakfast is served all day on Sunday, while dinner selections are flavorfully augmented by the on-site herb garden and sauces from scratch. The turkey pesto sandwich, with sweet dried cranberries and pesto aioli, is perfect for light appetites. If you took a few hikes in the woods with your wayward driver and worked up a powerful appetite, tackle the Full Farm Burger, a beast of a sandwich with ham, bacon, beef, egg and cheese. Don’t worry: This being a semi-private club, there’s probably a few heart surgeons around.Fire Creek Grill at Riverbend Golf Complex
2019 W Meeker St, Kent • ci.kent.wa.us/Riverbend
The view may not be quite as entertaining at the Fire Creek Grill, but your attention will be squarely focused on your plate, as in “How am I going to finish all this?” Wood-fired pizzas (the Par 7 and All Meat are the favorites) are the specialty, but if you think a salad can’t be a full meal, order the steak salad, approximately the size of a typical pot bunker. The sandwiches are generous as well; try the Fire Creek Clubhouse, stacked with grilled chicken, ham, bacon, swiss and avocado. The specialty drink list is as long as an uphill par-5; the Washington Apple Martini (Crown Royal, apple liquor and cranberry) is particularly tasty. With vaulted ceilings, happy hour specials, live music and plasma screens at every vantage point, this is not your typical golf course snack stand. The Golf Club at Hotel 1000
1000 First Ave., Seattle • hotel1000seattle.com
How do you play golf in downtown Seattle without getting arrested? Head to Hotel 1000, an uber-sleek destination for hip travelers and locals. Slide into the BOKA bar for creative cocktails using fresh herbs, fruits and infused liquors. Nibble from the Urban Bites menu; try the thai-spiced chicken lollipops or fried hama hama oysters. Want more? The American Wagyu Burger will crush any appetite. Speaking of crushing, take your big swing downstairs to the Golf Club and its two state-of-the-art Full Swing simulators, where you can play Pebble Beach or St. Andrews, with panoramic fairways, galleries and wildlife. Meet up with buddies (or book a private party) for long drive or KP contests — all without breaking any windows.
