Skins Game Rounds Out Foursome

It’s rare enough that Northwest golfers have the chance to watch a PGA pro in action, without turning on the TV. But four? That’ll be the case at the 2008 BMW Northwest Skins Game next month at The Classic Golf Club in Tacoma, where Puget Sound golf fans will be able to walk alongside four of the Tour’s top young professionals as they engage in a fun and friendly battle to raise money for Northwest charities. Updating our previous item on this event, it’s been announced that Portland, Ore., native and rising star Ben Crane will fill out the foursome at The Classic, Sept. 12-13. Crane will be joined by tournament host and Puyallup native Ryan Moore and top young pros Bubba Watson and Aaron Baddeley, each of whom are returning to the event for the second-straight year. Last year’s event raised over $110,000 for several Northwest charities, and tournament organizers are hoping to exceed the $200,000 mark this year. “None of these guys are getting paid for coming to this event,” says Jeremy Moore, brother of Ryan and President of the Ryan Moore Foundation, which will distribute the proceeds. “They’re each doing this because they want to help raise money for these charities, and to have fun with the local fans.” Tickets to the event, which will include a Pro-Am and Junior Clinic at the Classic on Friday, followed by the 18-hole Skins Game on Saturday, will be limited to just the first 5,000 fans, and can be purchased for just $20 ($10 juniors) through the event website, www.nwgolf.org.
