Compete Like A Pro

One of the nation’s largest handicap golf tournaments, the American Amateur Championship (AAC) pits golfers of all ages, genders and handicaps together in a four-day tournament, July 24-27, 2008, with the chance to play some of the region’s premier courses and compete for the title of 2008 American Amateur Champion.
Participants, flighted by gender, age and handicap, will play the first three rounds at one of 10 premier courses (including Hawks Prairie, Indian Summer, Trophy Lake, Washington National, McCormick Woods, Druid’s Glen, The Classic and Oakbrook Country Club). The top 120 competitors after three rounds (drawn equally from all handicap levels) will then advance to play the final round at Chambers Bay, home of the 2015 U.S. Open and internationally-renowned as one of the top new courses in the world.
“Our area has needed an event like this for years,“ says tournament director Brad Moss. “We have some of the best golf and most loyal golfers in all the nation, and it’s about time we showcase that fact.“
For just $450, golfers receive at least three rounds at outstanding local courses, plus lunch, range access and carts, and admission to nightly after-parties and to the tournament’s annual 19th Hole Premier Golf Show at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center.
“In our mind, it truly is the most exciting and best golf deal of the summer,“ Moss says.
Let’s face it — odds are, you’re probably never going to be a Tour pro. But that doesn’t mean you can’t live like one for one weekend a year. Just please, go easy on the photographers.
