Bellevue Goes Hi-TEC

OK, so maybe Bellevue “went” high-tech a long time ago.
In late December, however, the eastside city that has become synonymous with pushing the technological envelope finally went “TEC” — as in, GolfTEC, which opened a second Puget Sound location in downtown Bellevue.
“Honestly, the location came available and we just couldn’t pass it up,” says Brett Allen, owner of both Puget Sound GolfTEC locations, including the new Bellevue store and the original at South Lake Union. The new location at 108th and Main puts GolfTEC’s digital video swing analysis within two blocks of Bellevue’s business heart.
Perhaps inspired by its new neighbors, GolfTEC’s Bellevue store is also going higher-tech, swapping the corded waist belt worn by players at the South Lake Union facility for a wireless system that allows for greater mobility and a more relaxed and natural swing; expanding the hitting area to include a fourth mat featuring Titleist Performance Institute golf fitness technology; and introducing portable systems that can be taken off-site for large group events or corporate entertainment.
Allen envisions Bellevue businesses bringing clients and employees to GolfTEC for group lessons or club fittings, part of the reason that, in addition to improved technology and a larger hitting area, GolfTEC’S Bellevue location is more ornately decorated and features a lobby a good size larger than its sister store.
For Allen, it’s all part of improving the golfer’s learning experience.
“If improving the lobby is going to help put a golfer in a more relaxed state of mind when they come into our store, then that’s something we want to do. Every decision we make — whether it’s upgrading the technology or the decor — is done with the goal of giving the golfer the best possible environment in which to improve.”
And with a second Puget Sound location, access to that improvement just became a little easier, too. For more information, visit
