Sometimes, it’s better to be lucky than good. We started our research into the world of women’s golf gear by trying to answer the question … just what is it that makes women’s clubs different from those made for men? Turns out, the folks at Mizuno have already done the research for us, designed the clubs, and packaged them in an 18-piece set they call the SORA. Basically, the differences are simple, and logical – women’s clubs are typically an inch or so shorter than men’s and have a lighter, softer shaft, allowing women to generate clubhead speed similar to their male counterparts. Mizuno’s SORA set includes a 15-degree loft driver, a 3-wood, 5-wood, 7-hybrid, 6-9 irons, a pitching wedge, sand wedge and mallet putter. All designed with the female golfer in mind, this set is an especially strong option for beginners – not only can you walk out with a complete set of clubs, the irons and wedges boast Mizuno’s Extreme Pocket Cavity Design, allowing for higher launch and maximum forgiveness, while the oversized mallet putter’s polymer face insert minimizes the impact to create a soft, true roll. The trendy black, blue and silver bag, too, has been customized for women, with additional pockets and a detachable pouch that can act as a purse when in the clubhouse, or at the turn.
